Most AI recipe tools generate plausible-sounding dishes that call for ingredients you don't have. Pantree's AI Chef is different because it starts with your actual pantry. When you ask "what can I make for dinner?", the answer is always constrained to what's genuinely in your kitchen right now.
AI Chef also handles the messy, human side of cooking — substitutions, dietary tweaks, technique questions, and the emotional problem of looking at a wilting bunch of coriander and not knowing what to do with it.
How it works
- Ask for dinner ideas. "I have 30 minutes and want something Thai-ish" or "use up the chicken and the half-open jar of gochujang." AI Chef responds with options grounded in your pantry.
- Substitute on the fly. Mid-recipe and missing an ingredient? Ask AI Chef. It knows the recipe, your pantry, and common substitution ratios.
- Use up expiring items. AI Chef prioritises suggestions that use ingredients nearing their expiry date — turning food waste into dinner you would have cooked anyway.
- Dietary-aware. Tell AI Chef you're vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free or feeding a picky toddler, and it adjusts every suggestion accordingly.
Common questions
Does AI Chef see my whole pantry?
Yes — that's the point. AI Chef reads your current pantry inventory (and expiry dates, if set) to make suggestions grounded in what you actually have. It does not access other personal data.
Can AI Chef save recipes it suggests?
Yes. Any recipe AI Chef generates can be saved to your Pantree recipe library with one tap, just like an imported recipe.
